A significant portion of Americans are overweight, and therefore they are very keen on losing weight. They are willing to try any method that is simple, easy, and quick to produce results, "at any cost." As a result, in recent years, some inexplicable and bizarre weight loss methods have entered the lives of Americans.

1. Apple cider vinegar
Many people choose to drink three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before meals to suppress their appetite and lose fat. Medical experts believe this practice has no scientific basis; its supposed weight loss effect stems from its disruption of appetite. Experts also specifically warn against taking apple cider vinegar pills, as the concentrated acid can damage the esophagus and stomach lining.
2. The "Shangri-La" Weight Loss Method
Psychologist Seth Roberts' "Shangri-La" diet, invented in 2006, claimed to have found a new way to combat hunger. Based on his experiments on mice, Roberts concluded that everyone has a starting weight, and eating a light diet naturally leads to weight loss. He also suggested that people drink some olive oil about an hour before meals to control their appetite.
