Everyone needs to sleep every day, but do you know how much sleep is needed to maintain a slim figure? Recently, Canadian scientists revealed the secret: sleeping 7 to 8 hours every night makes it least likely to gain weight.
According to The Daily Telegraph, a research team led by Gene-Philippe Shapi, a scientist at Laval University in Quebec, Canada, conducted weight measurements and a long-term study on 276 adults aged 21 to 64. The study found that people who slept less than six hours or more than nine hours a night gained more weight than those who slept seven or eight hours a night.
Professor Shapi said that the reason why a person's sleep duration can affect weight is because sleep affects the body's hormone levels, especially appetite and whether one feels full after a meal.
